Simone Otis is 19/99’s lead makeup artist and one of the founding team members of the brand. In this conversation, Simone shares her path to becoming a makeup artist and how to use makeup to create joy, expression, and play into your daily life.

Makeup is such a powerful tool to make yourself feel better, and that you can use to support how you are feeling or want to feel when you go out into the world.


Simone Otis is a Toronto based makeup artist known for her precise makeup application. She has worked alongside photographers Annie Leibovitz, Brigitte Lacombe, and Francesco Scavullo and backstage at Balenciaga, Helmut Lang, Marc Jacobs, Hermes, Victoria Beckham, and Celine. Simone has worked with celebrities such as Selena Gomez, Salma Hayek, Lorde, Winne Harlow, and Rita Ora and, and her work has been published in Vogue, Vanity Fair, Elle, and more. 

Simone plays an active role in 19/99’s product development and is the brand’s lead makeup artist, bringing a wealth of knowledge on products and artistry.
